The Center for Pediatric Dentistry welcomes Lyall Browning as its new social work assistant, filling a key role at our clinic.
Since The Center’s inception in 2010, social work has been an important component of our services. We know that families often face challenges such as dealing with insurance or arranging transportation, and those challenges can be even greater when special-needs children are involved. Our social work staff is here to help you deal with those challenges so the focus can stay right where it belongs: on giving your children the best possible dental treatment by expert providers in a caring, compassionate setting.
Lyall comes to us from Seattle Public Schools, where she has been a family services provider working in the Head Start program. Before that, she was an assistant manager of supportive services for the Low Income Housing Institute of Seattle. Her extensive experience also includes work as a family therapist and social services case manager.
A native of Kentucky who is fluent in Spanish, she holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Louisville and a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Georgia.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Lyall as a new member of our team,” said Dr. Travis Nelson, Acting Chair of the UW Department of Pediatric Dentistry and director of The Center. “She has a wealth of social work experience and a passion for helping families access needed services. Her expertise will enable us to continue providing dental care to the most deserving children in our region.”
